FAQ: Frequently Asked Questions
Q: I've never been to therapy before, what can I expect in a psychotherapy session?

In our first two sessions I'll take the time to get to know you, this will be gathering information about your hope in therapy, goals, family history, employment, relationships and health. It's more of a chance to reflect on what's brought you here and how do we move forward from here. Starting therapy can feel daunting but this should feel more like a conversation than an interview. This is your space! This doesn't have to be a deep dive but it gives us a starting point to understand what brings you to therapy. From there on therapy is a space we make it - this can be about healing past wounds, trauma or working on your anxiety and emotions. It can also simply be a place to discuss what's going on currently that came up and how to move forward. At the end of the day my hope is to help you feel more at ease with your life by creating a safe and calm space to process your emotions and experiences.

Q: I live in Ontario and I’m interested in both psychotherapy and Vedic astrology. What should I do?

That’s wonderful! I’m a registered social worker in Ontario, Canada, and I offer therapy services to clients residing in Ontario. If you’re unsure about what you need, we can start with a free 20-minute consultation to explore what you're going through and how I can best support you.

If you’ve never had a Vedic astrology reading, feel free to check out my offerings and book a session! My astrology services can complement therapy, but they do not overlap—psychotherapy is a regulated practice in Ontario. Therapy is for clients who want to actively work through life themes, and as a therapist, I integrate spiritual concepts with evidence-based approaches like IFS, Mindfulness, and DBT.

Q: Can I get a receipt for my Vedic astrology session to claim for insurance purposes, as I live in Ontario too?

I totally get why you’re asking! Unfortunately, I can’t classify astrology sessions as psychotherapy since therapy is a regulated profession. Astrology sessions are spiritual and guidance-based rather than a clinical service provided by a mental health professional, so they don’t qualify as psychotherapy for insurance or tax purposes as a health care service. While astrology can be incredibly insightful and healing, it’s not the same as licensed mental health services.
